Alitalia check-in

Passengers can opt to check in with Alitalia online, by mobile phone or tablet, or at a check-in machine or right at the airline's check-in counter at the airport.

In case you demand specific services onboard the plane or are travelling with pets, you have to check in right at the check-in counter in the departure airport.

Mobile check-in Alitalia

For additional convenience, you have the option to choose to download your mobile boarding pass, making it possible to check-in anytime you want. Check-in, seat selection, and receiving your mobile boarding pass is all possible from 48 hours prior to departure, using your mobile device. Prior to travelling, be sure to check whether mobile check-in is possible in the airport of departure.

Alitalia hand baggage

Your flight ticket travel class determines the carry-on baggage allowance when travelling with Alitalia.

Carry-on baggage is required to adhere to airline regulations.

You are obliged to check your carry-on baggage at an Alitalia counter or, if possible at the departure airport, by using a self-service bag drop service, when it does not meet the airline's regulations. Additional charges may be applied if this happens.

There is limited room allotted for larger items, so it is advisable to reserve with the airline at least 48 hours ahead of the scheduled departure time.

Alitalia delayed baggage / damaged baggage

If your baggage is delayed or damaged, this needs to be reported promptly to the Alitalia baggage tracing counter or the Alitalia service counter at the airport of arrival. Save all documents relating to your flight, above all your boarding pass and baggage claim tag.

You must always give your claim reference number and confirmation in writing. Till your baggage is delivered, or claim resolution, you need to maintain these documents.

Travelling with pets with Alitalia is allowed. Requires booking in advance.

As long as the animal meets weight, size, country, in addition to other airline regulations, you are allowed to travel with it with an extra fee as carry-on baggage or inside the cargo hold of the plane.
