The Rhine-Ruhr Region is one of the most densely populated areas of Germany. Rhine and Ruhr are two rivers which are surrounded by many interconnected larger cities in a kind of supercity. More than 10 million people live here.

The Balearic Islands have been a popular travel destination among Germans and British tourists for decades. It all started in the 1960s when a new, huge airport was built, paving the way for massive growth in the touristic sector.

Germany´s numerous states are all quite different from each other. Take southern Bavaria and Lowe Saxony in the north for instance and you will notice huge discrepancies in many cultural and also geographical dimensions. Hamburg is a city that surprises most of its visitors with its unexpected charm. Located at the Elbe river it is considered one of Europe’s top travel locations. It even made it into The New York Times´ list of 52 Places to Go in 2017.

With an impressive passenger volume of more than 23 million, Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is the third largest airport on German soil. As an important hub for Lufthansa (LH), Air Berlin (AB), Eurowings (EW), Germanwings (4U) and other airlines it plays an important role both for domestic flights and international connections. Being located near the densely populated Ruhr region makes it the primary airport for people living in or traveling to this famous industrial area.

Germany has many big airports which are spread over the whole country. Being a federal nation and quite evenly and densely populated territory this does not come by surprise. In addition, in some locations, regional politics also play an important role to justify the existence of local airports.
