Eurowings debuts direct flight from Cologne Bonn to Chișinău

Eurowings has launched a new flight route connecting Cologne Bonn Airport with Chişinău, Moldova, beginning on May 1. The service operates twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, fitting seamlessly into the current summer schedule. In addition to this new route, Eurowings is expanding its reach with new destinations starting in July. These include Samsun, Turkey (from July 8, on Mondays), Kayseri, Turkey (beginning July 11, on Thursdays), and Fez, Morocco (from July 6, on Saturdays).
“We are delighted that our important partner Eurowings is adding four more destinations to its already large portfolio in Cologne/Bonn,” said Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. “With Chişinău, we are adding a city in Eastern Europe that is well worth seeing and that we have not previously had on our flight schedule. Additional destinations in Turkey and Morocco are ideal for holiday travellers as well as for passengers visiting family and friends.”
Natural beauty of Chişinău
Chişinău, the Moldovan capital, is the political, economic, and cultural heart of the country. Situated on the River Bîc, it is known for its lush parks and picturesque surroundings, including vineyards and hills. The city is home to significant historical and cultural sites such as the National Theatre and the triumphal arch, featuring a blend of Soviet-era architecture and Orthodox churches.
Samsun, located on the Black Sea coast in northern Turkey, serves as the economic and cultural center of the region. The city’s rich history is underscored by its pivotal role in the Turkish War of Liberation in 1919. Tourists can enjoy attractions like Atakum Beach and Amisos Hill, which offers stunning panoramic views.
Kayseri, situated in Cappadocia, Turkey, lies at the foot of the dormant Erciyes volcano. Famous for its culinary specialties like pastırma, sucuk, and mantı, Kayseri also boasts historical landmarks such as the Grand Bazaar, the Grand Mosque, a fortress, the old town, and the Archaeological Museum.
Fez - spiritual and cultural hub of the country
Fez, a historic city in Morocco, is home to North Africa’s largest and oldest medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the spiritual and cultural hub of the country, featuring landmarks such as the Kairaouine Mosque and the elaborately decorated Medersa Bou Inania. The city’s vibrant scenes include the colorful tanners’ quarter and peaceful garden oases.
Flight durations are approximately two and a half hours to Chişinău and just under four hours to Samsun, Kayseri, and Fez.
