Emirates check-in

Emirates offers a choice of check-in methods – your mobile phone or tablet, online, airport self-check-in machines, or at the check-in desk in the airport.

Passengers who demand certain services onboard the plane, or who are travelling with pets, have to check in at the airline counter in the airport you are departing from.

Emirates online check-in

Passengers may check in online from 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure, select a seat and print their boarding pass or have it sent to their mobile phone (first make sure mobile check-in is possible in the airport you are departing from).

To process online check-in for your flight with Emirates, please follow the link.

Emirates Airlines: check in with mobile

Checking in and downloading the boarding pass to your device is simple, efficient, and enables you to plan for your flight no matter where you happen to be. From 48 hours before departure, you can check in, reserve your seat, and get your boarding pass with your mobile phone. Always check the availability of mobile check-in in the airport of departure.

If you have an issue with your mobile boarding pass, you can go to the airline check-in desk or a check-in machine (if available) for a regular paper one. This additionally applies in the event your phone has problems, or your boarding pass is deleted.

Emirates flight check-in machines

These machines enable you to check in yourself at the airport. Check if the departure airport has check-in machines before your journey. You have the possibility to check in for your flight with your passport or by typing your last name plus your flight booking reference (this is on your booking confirmation), with most check-in machines.

Emirates check-in time: Deadlines

The point of check-in deadlines is to ensure flights take off punctually. Before the deadline you should have your boarding pass, however you checked in – in person, online, by using your mobile phone, or if you were automatically checked in – and baggage should also have been checked in.

To read about Emirates check-in deadlines, please follow the link.

Emirates baggage allowance

Read additional information on Emirates' baggage policy here.

Emirates hand luggage / carry-on baggage

The class of your flight ticket decides the number of carry-on baggage items you are permitted on an Emirates flight. Carry-on baggage must fall within airline regulations.

You must check your carry-on baggage at an Emirates desk or, if possible at the departure airport, by using a self-service bag drop service, when it does not meet the airline's regulations. You may need to pay extra fees for this.

More details about allowance for carry-on baggage are here.

Dimensions applied to carry-on baggage – max. 55 x 38 x 20 cm

Economy Class – limited to 1 item of carry-on baggage up to 7 kg
Business Class – limited to 2 items of carry-on baggage, up to 7 kg each
First Class – 2 items of carry-on baggage, each up to 7 kg

Emirates baggage policy: Sports equipment

Whichever sports equipment you are travelling with, you can find all the applicable information to prepare for your journey here. It is advisable to reserve for sports baggage ahead of time (at least 24 hours before departure), as the aircraft usually has limited allocated space for such items.

More detailed information concerning sports baggage and equipment regulations can be found here.

Emirates luggage problems

Baggage getting damaged or failing to arrive at the destination can be attributed to several issues. The baggage handling area experiencing technical issues, poor weather, or the baggage tag detaching, can all lead to a number of troubles with your bags.

For details on compensation claims for baggage, or finding baggage, follow this link.

Emirates: Baggage which is damaged or delayed

You must report damaged or delayed baggage promptly, either to the Emirates baggage tracing desk or the Emirates service counter. It is important to maintain all flight documents, specifically your boarding pass and baggage claim tag.

Written confirmation is always a requirement, and a reference number of your claim. Till the delivery of your baggage, or claim resolution, it is important to maintain these documents.

There is also the option to enforce a claim for baggage problems with MYFLYRIGHT, more detailed information on this can be found here.
