Ethiopian Airlines opens new Gode Ugaas Miraad terminal

Ethiopian Airlines Group has recently unveiled its latest infrastructure upgrade, the newly built Airport terminal and aircraft parking facility. This development marks a significant enhancement in the airport experience for passengers traveling to and from Gode, Somali Region.
Inauguration and features of the terminal
The inauguration ceremony, graced by the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Somali region President Mustafe Omer, marked the official opening of the state-of-the-art terminal and aircraft parking area. Spanning an impressive 3,500 square meters, the terminal is equipped with cutting-edge technology and amenities aimed at ensuring a seamless travel experience. Notably, the incorporation of a solar system underscores the airline's commitment to sustainable practices.
Expansion and additional facilities
The three-year construction project also includes the expansion of the apron, capable of accommodating up to four De Havilland Q400 aircraft or Boeing B737 aircraft simultaneously. Additionally, ancillary buildings such as an airport rescue and firefighting station, water reserve, parking facilities, among others, have been added to complement the main terminal infrastructure.

Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the newly unveiled facilities, emphasizing their role in elevating the airport experience for passengers traveling to and from Gode. Tasew highlighted the airline's ongoing commitment to enhancing both domestic and international airport facilities, citing similar projects underway at airports in Jinka, Kombolcha, Goba/Robe, and Bahir Dar.
