Flight delays and cancellations in August 2026
August 2026 has brought another busy stretch for European air travel. With the summer holiday season in full swing, airports and airlines have been dealing with packed schedules, busy airspace, limited turnaround time, and the knock-on effects of earlier delays. When one flight runs late, that delay can quickly spread across the rest of the aircraft’s schedule.
What many passengers still don't realise is that a delayed or cancelled flight may give you the right to compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004. Depending on the circumstances and flight distance, you could be entitled to up to €600, even if the disruption happened several weeks ago.
