Brussels Airlines check-in

Brussels Airlines offers a choice of check-in ways – your mobile phone or tablet, online, airport self-check-in machines, or at the check-in counter at the airport.

In case you demand certain on-board services or are travelling with pets, make sure to check in right at the check-in desk in the airport you are departing from.

Brussels Airlines online check-in

Online check-in begins from 24 hours and up to 1 hour ahead of time of departure and enables seat selection and either printing of your boarding pass or downloading it to a mobile device (check mobile check-in is possible at the departure airport).

Mobile check-in

From 24 hours up to 1 hour prior to departure, you can check in, reserve your seat, and get your boarding pass using your mobile device. Remember to check the possibility of mobile check-in in the airport of departure.

If there are any issues with your mobile boarding pass, you may collect a conventional paper boarding pass from a check-in machine (if available in the departure airport) or from the airline check-in counter at the airport. This further applies in case you experience any problems with your phone, or if you delete your boarding pass inadvertently.

Check-in machine

These are the stand-alone computer screens for use in airports for checking yourself in. Check that check-in machines are located in your airport of departure prior to your journey. You can typically check in at the machine either with your passport, or by filling in your last name and booking reference, which is in your booking confirmation.

Brussels Airlines check-in deadlines

The point of check-in deadlines is to guarantee flights leave on schedule. You must have checked in baggage and have your boarding pass – regardless of how you checked in – prior to the deadline.

Brussels Airlines baggage regulations

Brussels Airlines carry-on baggage

The class of your flight ticket decides the number of carry-on baggage items you are allowed on a Brussels Airlines flight.

The carry-on baggage is required to comply with the airline’s regulations.
When your baggage does not adhere to Brussels Airlines' carry-on regulations, you must check it in at the airline counter or, if available, at a self-service bag drop kiosk. Additional fees may be required if this occurs.

Dimensions for carry-on baggage – max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm
Dimensions applied to foldable garment bags – max. 57 x 54 x 15 cm

Economy Class – limited to 1 item of carry-on baggage up to 12 kg
Premium Economy Class – 1 item of carry-on baggage up to 12 kg

Dimension regulations for checked-in baggage – max. 158 cm (width + height + depth)

Checked-in baggage allowance in addition to carry-on baggage

Economy Class – 1 baggage item, up to 23 kg
Premium Economy Class

Business Class

Brussels Airlines excess baggage

Respecting excess or special baggage items, some important points need to be kept in mind.

Baggage considered to be excess

Economy / Premium Economy Class – over 23 kg (maximum 32 kg) and/or above 158 cm (width + height + depth)
Business Class – above 158 cm (width + height + depth)

Brussels Airlines baggage policy: Sports equipment

You should reserve as early as possible for sports baggage due to the fact that the space for such items is restricted.

Baggage problems

Damaged baggage, or baggage not getting to the destination, can be attributed to a variety of issues. Problems with your baggage may be due to technical difficulties in the baggage handling area, unfavourable weather conditions, or the baggage tag detaching from your luggage.

Delayed / damaged baggage claim

A statement should be made immediately to the Brussels Airlines baggage tracing desk or service counter if your baggage is damaged or has not arrived at the destination airport. Keep all documents relating to your flight, most importantly your boarding pass and baggage claim tag.

It is a requirement to provide confirmation in writing and the reference number for your claim. Until the delivery of your baggage, or your claim is resolved, it is crucial to maintain these documents.

You can also opt to enlist MYFLYRIGHT to claim for lost or delayed baggage, you can find more detailed information here.
