Japan Airlines check-in

Passengers can decide to check in with Japan Airlines online, by mobile phone or tablet, or on a self-check-in machine or directly at the airline's check-in counter at the airport.

When you need special on-board services or are travelling with pets, you must check in right at the check-in desk in the airport of departure.

JAL online check-in

Online check-in is possible from 24 hours before time of departure and enables seat selection and either printing of your boarding pass or downloading it to a mobile device (check mobile check-in is available at the airport you are departing from).

Japan Airlines mobile check-in

For additional ease, you have the option to choose to download your mobile boarding pass, making it possible to check in whenever you like. Open from 24 hours before departure, you are able to check in, reserve a seat, and receive your mobile boarding pass, all with your mobile phone. Check that mobile check-in is possible in the airport you are departing from.

In case there are any problems with your mobile boarding pass, you can pick up a conventional paper boarding pass from a check-in machine (if available in the departure airport) or from the airline check-in counter at the airport. In the event you are experiencing issues with your phone, or have inadvertently deleted your boarding pass, the above further applies.

JAL check-in machines

These machines allow you to check in yourself at the airport. Make sure check-in machines are accessible in your airport of departure ahead of your trip. You can check in for your flight with your passport or by filling in your last name plus your flight booking reference (this is on your booking confirmation), with most check-in machines.

Japan Airlines check-in time & deadlines

Check-in deadlines are vital in order to achieve punctual departure for flights. Make sure you have your boarding pass and have checked in any baggage prior to the deadline, whether you checked in on your mobile device, at the check-in desk, or at a check-in machine.

Japan Airlines baggage allowance

Your flight ticket travel class determines the carry-on baggage allowance when travelling with Japan Airlines. Carry-on baggage must adhere to airline regulations. If your baggage does not comply with Japan Airlines' carry-on regulations, you should check it in at the airline counter or, if available, at a self-service bag drop kiosk. It is important to note that this might require an extra charge.

Japan Airlines: Baggage which is delayed / damaged

Damaged or delayed baggage should be declared at once at the Japan Airlines baggage tracing counter or the airline's service counter. Save all documents pertaining to your flight, most importantly your boarding pass and baggage claim tag.

It is essential to give confirmation in writing and your claim reference number. Until the baggage delivery, or your claim is settled, it is vital to keep hold of these documents.
