TAP online check-in

Passengers can check in online from 36 hours (24 hours for US flights) before the time of departure, pick a seat and print out their boarding pass or have it sent to their mobile phone (first make sure mobile check-in is possible in the departure airport). 

TAP check-in online with mobile

You may simply check in and download the mobile boarding pass to your device wherever you are. You are able to check-in, book your seat, and receive your mobile boarding pass 36 hours (24 hours for the US flights) prior to the flight departure, all on your mobile device. Mobile check-in is not available in all airports, so it is important to check this when preparing for your journey.

In case you have an issue with your mobile boarding pass, you can visit the airline check-in desk or a check-in machine (where available) for a conventional paper one. If you are having troubles with your phone, or have inadvertently deleted your boarding pass, the above is also applicable.

TAP Portugal check-in machines

These are the machines which enable you to check in at the airport. Make sure check-in machines are accessible in the airport you are departing from ahead of your trip. Almost all check-in machines enable you to check in with either your passport or your last name and booking reference, which you will find on your booking confirmation.

TAP Portugal carry-on baggage

The quantity of items of carry-on baggage permitted on TAP Portugal flights is determined by the travel class of the flight ticket.

Carry-on baggage has to fall within the regulations of the airline.

If it happens that your baggage does not adhere to TAP Portugal's carry-on regulations, you must check it in at the airline desk or, if available, at a self-service bag drop kiosk.

TAP Portugal luggage claim

It is necessary to report damaged or delayed baggage right away, either to the TAP Portugal baggage tracing desk or the TAP Portugal service counter. Every flight document must be kept, first and foremost your baggage claim tag and boarding pass.

It is a requirement to give written confirmation and the reference number for your claim. Make sure you have this until baggage receipt, or your claim is resolved.

TAP Airlines travel classes

The level of accommodation onboard an aircraft is determined by the travel class of the flight ticket. The range of classes the passenger can select from varies according to the airline. There are 2 travel class options provided by TAP Portugal – Economy (Discount, Basic, Classic, Plus) and Business (Executive). Cabin classes are then also separated into invisible booking classes, which have differing services.

TAP Economy Class

This travel class is the most affordable one provided by the airline. On any flights with TAP Portugal, you are able to select to fly Economy Class.

TAP Portugal Business Class

A class which offers the opportunity for passengers to travel in outstanding comfort. The calibre of seating, food and beverages, service while on the ground, as well as on-board perks, distinguish Business Class from other travel classes.

Travelling with children on TAP flights

Children aged two (2) and above are required to have a separate seat booking.
