Turkish Airlines check-in
Turkish Airlines' check-in options make it possible for you to check in online, by using your mobile phone or tablet, at a self-check-in machine or at the airline check-in counter in the airport.
Be sure to check in at the airline counter at the airport you are departing from in case of travelling with pets or if you require special on-board services.
Turkish Airlines online check-in
Passengers can check in online from 24 hours before the scheduled departure, choose a seat and print out their boarding pass or have it sent to their mobile phone (first ensure mobile check-in is possible in the airport of departure).
Turkish Airlines mobile check-in
You can conveniently check in and download the mobile boarding pass to your mobile device wherever you happen to be. From 24 hours prior to departure, you can check in, reserve your seat, and get your boarding pass with your mobile phone. Mobile check-in is not available in all airports, so it is important to check this when planning your trip.
In case you have an issue with your mobile boarding pass, you can visit the airline check-in counter or a check-in machine (where available) for a regular paper one. This additionally applies if you experience any problems with your phone, or if you delete your boarding pass by accident.
Turkish Airlines self-check-in machines
These are the screens you can use to check in at the airport. Not all airports have self-check-in machines, so check that the airport you are departing from does prior to your journey. Most check-in machines enable you to check in with either your passport or your last name and booking reference, which you will find on your booking confirmation.
THY check-in deadlines
The point of check-in deadlines is to ensure flights leave according to schedule. No matter how you opt to check in, make sure you have your boarding pass and that all necessary baggage is checked prior to the deadline.
Turkish Airlines baggage allowance
Read additional details about Turkish Airlines' baggage policy below.
Turkish Airlines hand luggage / carry-on baggage
The class of your flight ticket affects the amount of carry-on baggage items you are allowed on a Turkish Airlines flight. Carry-on baggage is required to adhere to airline regulations.
It is necessary to check your carry-on baggage at a Turkish Airlines desk or, if available at the departure airport, by using a self-service bag drop service, when it falls outside the airline's regulations. It is important to note that you could be required to pay charges if you have to check this baggage.
Dimensions applied to carry-on baggage – max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm
Turkish Airlines checked baggage
The cost and travel class of your ticket establish the amount of baggage you may check in at no cost. For Turkish Airlines, this varies depending on your destination.
Regulations for checked-in baggage dimensions – max. 158 cm (width + height + depth)
Turkish Airlines excess baggage policy
There are a few points to consider concerning excess and special baggage.
Baggage considered to be excess
Economy Class – over 23 kg (maximum 32 kg) and/or above 158 cm (width + height + depth)
Business Class – above 158 cm (width + height + depth)
Turkish Airlines luggage policy: Sports equipment
If you are taking sports equipment, you should make a reservation for sports baggage early, as the aircraft usually has limited allocated space for such items.
Turkish Airlines baggage issues
Baggage getting damaged or not arriving at the destination could be a consequence of several variables. A detached baggage tag, poor weather, or technical issues in the baggage handling area can lead to baggage troubles.
Turkish Airlines tracking baggage / damaged bags
A statement should be made right away to the Turkish Airlines baggage tracing desk or service counter if your baggage is damaged or has not arrived at the airport of arrival. Keep all documents relevant to your flight, above all your boarding pass and baggage claim tag.
Your claim reference number, as well as written confirmation, is always necessary. Till baggage receipt, or resolution of your claim, you need to keep these documents.
A different option to claim for problems with baggage is to make the claim using the services of MYFLYRIGHT, more detailed information can be found here.
