Iberia check-in

It is possible to check in with Iberia Airlines in a variety of ways, online, on your mobile phone or tablet, or in the airport with a self-check-in machine or at the airline check-in desk.

When you demand particular on-board services or are flying with pets, you must check in right at the check-in desk in the departure airport.

Iberia online check-in

Online check-in opens from 24 hours ahead of departure and enables passengers to pick a seat and print their boarding pass or have it sent to their mobile phone (check the possibility of mobile check-in in the airport you are departing from).

Mobile check-in Iberia

You may simply check in and download the mobile boarding pass to your smartphone or tablet wherever you happen to be. From 24 hours and up to 1 hour prior to departure, you can check in, choose your seat, and receive your boarding pass on your mobile device. Mobile check-in is not available in all airports, so it is important to check this when getting ready for your trip.

If you have difficulty with your mobile boarding pass, you can visit the airline check-in counter or a check-in machine (if available) for a regular paper one. If you are having troubles with your phone, or have inadvertently deleted your boarding pass, the above additionally applies.

Iberia Airlines check-in machine

These machines allow you to check yourself in at the airport. Find out if check-in machines are available in the airport you are departing from before your journey. Almost all check-in machines allow you to check in with either your passport or your last name and booking reference, which you will find on your booking confirmation.

Iberia Airlines check-in time: Deadlines

Check-in deadlines are vital in order to guarantee on-time departure for flights. However you opt to check in, verify you have your boarding pass and that all necessary baggage is checked before the deadline.

Iberia Baggage allowance

Iberia hand luggage

Iberia Airlines' carry-on baggage allowance is dependent on the flight ticket's travel class.

Carry-on baggage has to fall within the regulations of the airline.

If the carry-on baggage does not fall within regulations, it has to be checked in at an Iberia Airlines counter or a self-service bag drop kiosk, where available. It is important to note that this could incur charges.

Dimensions for carry-on baggage – max. 56 x 45 x 25 cm
Dimensions for foldable garment bags – max. 40 x 30 x 15 cm

Economy Class – limited to 1 item of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg
Premium Economy Class – 1 carry-on baggage item up to 14 kg
Business Class
– (Business Plus on long-haul flights) 2 carry-on baggage items, each up to 18 kg

Iberia checked baggage

The ticket fare and travel class determine your free baggage allowance.

Checked-in baggage dimensions – max. 158 cm (width + height + depth)

Checked-in baggage allowance in addition to carry-on baggage

Economy Class – 1 baggage item, up to 23 kg
Premium Economy Class – 2 baggage items, up to 23 kg each
Business Class – 2 items of baggage, each up to 23 kg

Excess and special baggage

There are certain rules in relation to excess and special baggage.

Baggage considered to be excess

Economy / Premium Economy Class – over 23 kg (maximum 32 kg) and/or above 157 cm (width + height + depth)
Business Class – above 158 cm (width + height + depth)

Damaged/ delayed Iberia Airlines baggage

You have to report damaged or delayed baggage at once, either to the Iberia Airlines baggage tracing counter or the Iberia Airlines service counter. It is necessary to keep hold of all flight documents, especially your boarding pass and baggage claim tag.

A reference number of your claim, as well as written confirmation, is always required. Till baggage receipt, or your claim is resolved, it is vital to keep these documents.

A different method to pursue a claim for issues with baggage is to make the claim with the help of MYFLYRIGHT, more details can be found here.

Always look up which documents are needed for your flight before travelling, to ensure entry and exit is possible in a certain country.

Travelling with pets on Iberia Airlines flights

Travelling with pets with Iberia Airlines is allowed.

When the weight, scale, and country and other airline rules are met, you may fly with your pet with an additional charge either as additional carry-on baggage or it can be transported in the cargo hold area of the airplane.
